Peacepace Initiative, with the support of United States Institute of Peace (USIP), is organizing an exclusive, intensive two-day training on peacebuilding and leadership for young Nigerian leaders/youth in three selected geopolitical zones. The selected training locations are Southwest (Ibadan, Oyo State), Northwest (Kano, kano State), and Northeast (Yola, Adamawa state).
Nigeria is a heterogeneous state with multiple tribes, languages, and religions. Clearly, what separates us is much more than what unites us as a people. We have suffered different forms of prejudices and violence as a result of our differences and lack of good leadership. As a youth-led organization, we believe that Nigerian youth/young leaders can change the narrative and positively restructure the mindset of our people to embrace our differences for our common good, without maligning any group or party, starting from our peers and from our local communities.
Through Project Young Narrators, selected young Nigerian leaders would be thoroughly trained on prejudice awareness and reduction, negotiation skills, leadership, how to manage conflict nonviolently, and the need to embrace nationalism over tribalism among others. The training will last for two days (8am-5pm daily) in each training location and youth leaders from any of the six geopolitical zones can only apply for one of the three cohorts.
